Concepts - Analysis - System Implementation

The integral sign in the company logo symbolizes our view of business processes in companies and organizations.

The concept of integrated view is not new. Already in the 1970ies and 1980ies it was enunciated in a "CALS-Handbook" by the "Department of Defense" (DoD). The handbook was reprintet together with the "Acquisition Handbook 502".

The idea of integrated processes was first described via the acronym "CALS" meaning "CALS Computer-Aided Logistic Support". Later this meaning of "CALS" took a turn to "CALS Computer-Aided Acquisition and Logistic Support".

In the late 1990ies, it became "CALS Continuous Acquisition and Life Cycle Support".

In secret, CALS stood for "Commerce At Light Speed".

The fundamental idea is to record and save data (i.e. information) only once as soon as it is collected, but to share it between several distinct business processes.

This possibility was provided by database technology.
As one of the most important customers of high-technology equipment the DoD was between the most intense conveyors of this concept, known as "CALS Strategy", and claimed the stringent implementation of that strategy.

Today the concept of "CALS Continuous Acquisition and Life Cycle Support" is known as

- "LCI Life Cycle Integration" or
- "LCM Life Cycle Management"

Part of the CALS and LCM strategy respectively is the "CE Concurrent Engineering".
This philosophy is the basic principle of the organization of multidisciplinary teams and the interconnectedness of different workscopes by means of information technology.

SSC analyses your business processes, develops concepts and assists with the cross-linking and implementation of the new organisation.
